Cultura Inglesa for Schools is a programme that selects teachers for our Partner Schools in RECIFE every year. While our Partner Schools are the employers, through our programme, Cultura Inglesa provides exclusive academic support to the English teachers involved.
Successful applicants must meet a number of minimum requirements in order to teach at one of our partner schools. All English teachers must have upper intermediate level of English (B2 on the Common European Framework) and:
– to teach at the Ensino Infantil and Fundamental I level: Ensino Superior em Pedagogia ou Licenciatura em Letras – Inglês
– to teach at the Ensino Fundamental II and Ensino Médio level: Licenciatura em Letras – Inglês or ‘CAT’
Applicants with experience as a teacher is a plus, as well as holding international certificates such as B2 First (FCE), C1 Advanced (CAE), C2 Proficiency (CPE), TKT and CELTA.
Cultura Inglesa will ask all applicants to provide copies of their certificates as stated on their CV during the selection process. For those applicants who are not Brazilian nationals, you must have a valid working visa to be hired by our partner schools.
If you are interested in taking part in the selection process for a position as a teacher in one of our partner schools in the future, please read the sections below carefully.
All online application forms received are assessed by our coordinators. Once a selection process for any of our partner schools is open, applicants that fulfil their minimum requirements will be invited to take part.
Learn about our selection process here:
The first stage of the selection process is an online English Test.
The time limit to take the test is two hours. Applicants that are invited to take part in the selection process will receive an invitation with all relevant information.
Applicants that successfully pass the English test will be contacted by email to schedule an interview with one of our coordinators. The interview will be conducted in English and can be either online or face to face.
On the Induction Day, applicants will engage in a series of activities related to approaches to teaching English as a Foreign Language. This will be held online.
The final stage involves applicants having the opportunity to show their teaching abilities in a simulated lesson. All materials and instructions for this stage will be given during the Induction Day. The simulated lesson will be observed by Coordinators and, on some occasions, academic staff from our partner schools. The Microteaching stage is held face to face.
At the end of this process, Cultura Inglesa will inform applicants whether they have passed or not. Under no circumstances will Cultura Inglesa give specific feedback on any of the stages of the selection process.
Cultura Inglesa sends all the selection process results to our partner schools. Partner schools contact successful teachers directly whenever they have a position available. Positions are open according to demand, which means successful applicants may not be hired immediately. In this situation, successful applicants are still eligible for a position in the following term.
